Ataxxa Spot-On Dog | NewPet

Dewormer in pipettes indicated for dogs. Do not administer to cats.

Treatment and prevention of flea infestations (Ctenocephalides felis). Fleas present on the dog are killed within 1 day after treatment. One treatment prevents future flea infestations for 4 weeks. The veterinary medicinal product can be used as part of a treatment strategy for flea allergy dermatitis (FAD).

After topical administration in dogs, the solution rapidly spreads over the surface of the animal's body. Both active substances remain detectable on the skin and fur of the treated animal for 4 weeks. Systemic absorption of the veterinary medicinal product is low enough to affect efficacy or tolerance in the target species.

Ataxxa is a topical ectoparasiticide containing imidacloprid and permethrin.

Imidacloprid - It is an ectoparasiticide belonging to the group of chloronicotinyl compounds.
Chemically, it can be classified as a chloronicotinyl nitroguanidine. Imidacloprid is effective against the adult flea and its larval stages. In addition to the adulticidal efficacy of imidacloprid, larvicidal efficacy has been demonstrated in the environment of the treated animal. The larval stages of fleas present in the environment are killed after contact with a treated animal. Imidacloprid has a high affinity for nicotinergic acetylcholine receptors in the postsynaptic region of the central nervous system (CNS) of the insect. Subsequent inhibition of cholinergic transmission in insects results in paralysis and death of the parasite.

Permethrin - Belongs to the class of type I pyrethroids, also acting as a repellent. Pyrethroids interact with both vertebrate and invertebrate voltage-gated sodium channels. Pyrethroids are also called “open channel blockers”, interfering with sodium channels by delaying both their activating and inactivating properties. This leads to hyperexcitability and death of the parasite.
Do not administer to cats.

To ensure correct dosage, body weight must be determined as accurately as possible.

To reduce reinfestations resulting from the appearance of new fleas, it is recommended to treat all dogs living in the house. Other animals living in the same household must be treated with an appropriate veterinary medicinal product. Also, to facilitate environmental disinfestation, the additional use of an adequate environmental treatment against fleas and their development stages is recommended.

Depending on the number of fleas, it may be necessary to repeat the treatment. The interval between the two treatments should be 4 weeks. However, in cases of frequent and/or prolonged exposure to water, persistent effectiveness may be reduced. In these cases, do not administer more frequently than once a week.

Use during pregnancy and lactation
The safety of the veterinary medicinal product has not been established during pregnancy and lactation. Use in these cases only according to the benefit/risk assessment carried out by the attending veterinarian.

contraindications
